The finished product, perfect and ready for immediate use, is the result of a complex process that often goes unnoticed. We would therefore like to show you how we manufacture our manways and manhole covers, illustrating each stage of the production cycle: from processing the raw material to obtaining the finished product, packed and ready for shipment.
1. Arrival and inspection of raw materials
The production process begins with the arrival of the raw material, which undergoes rigorous checks to verify compliance with Arten’s standards. This step is essential to guarantee the high-quality levels that have always distinguished us.
2. Stainless steel sheet cutting and mechanical processing
Following the sheet cutting phase, from which the components necessary for production are obtained, divided according to thickness and technical specifications.
Direct sheet processing represents a competitive advantage, as it allows the product to be customized from the earliest stages of production, ensuring high production flexibility (except for standardized covers, which are manufactured using stamping and therefore have fixed dimensions).
This approach applies in particular to custom manwaydoors 392, 392R, and 394, which are made entirely to measure, including the cover.
At this stage, various mechanical processes are also conducted on round steel rods and bar elements.
3. Specific component processing
Once the sheet metal has been cut, the process is divided into distinct stages depending on the type of component:
- Covers: molding and subsequent polishing.
- Frames: plate rolling/bending, welding, calibration and finally finishing.
- Other particulars (such as U-bolts, arms, etc.): more specific and diversified processes, which may include bending, mechanical processing, and/or stamping.
4. Assembly and final inspection
Once processing is complete, the components are assembled.
Before final assembly, the cover and frame are always fitted together to check that the product closes correctly and functions properly.
Once assembly is complete, each item undergoes a final quality check, then is packaged and prepared for shipment to the customer.
The stages described summarize a complex and detailed production process, which can take varying amounts of time depending on the type of item.
Every Arten product is the result of meticulous work, careful planning, and constant monitoring, elements that guarantee the high-quality standards necessary to justify the delivery times and costs associated with production.
